Maintain That Curb Appeal!

Think of the last time you pulled into a business–it could even be your own. What was the parking lot like? When you got out of your car and approached the business, how was your walk to the door on the sidewalk? A lot of us probably remember bumps, potholes, uneven surfaces and cracked concrete which can all lead to a tainted customer experience.
A maintenance plan for these all-important surfaces is critical. And, at the end of the day, it’s cheaper to maintain than it is to do a complete overhaul. Here’s what an effective plan can do:
- Keep minor issues from escalating to major problems. Routine inspections can help detect cracks, potholes & wear. Address these issues promptly!
- Enhance safety. Cracks, potholes, and uneven surfaces can be hazardous for vehicles and pedestrians. Regular maintenance of both your parking lot and sidewalks helps to keep surfaces smooth and therefore removes any trip hazards.
- Stay current on accessibility compliance. Are your ADA handicap parking spots compliant with local laws and regulations? Oftentimes, spots are too narrow and we have been seeing a switch from asphalt to concrete in these stalls to prevent sinking.
- Extend lifespan. Seal coating helps to protect against UV damage and overall wear & tear. Crack seal is recommended on an as-need basis (typically every year) and seal coating every 2-3 years!
