Important Message from J&P About COVID-19

March 16, 2020

Dear Customers,

As the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) outbreak unfolds around the U.S., we wanted to share some information about the status of our customers’ ATM and equipment cleaning, as well as other building maintenance services.

Every day, we’re learning more about COVID-19, which we know is primarily spread from person to person — most frequently among close contacts (within about 6 feet) via respiratory droplets. However, it’s known that the virus can live on surfaces for up to 72 hours, and that while not the primary manner of transmission for this illness, infection from surfaces is quite possible, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

For many years, it has been our team’s job to clean ATMs and other banking equipment used by the public at thousands of locations throughout the Midwest. We’re continuing to perform all scheduled cleaning and maintenance services, and upon customer request, we’re offering more frequent cleaning visits. The CDC recommends regular cleaning as one of the most important preventive measures we can take; professional cleaning of ATMs, deal drawers, pneumatic tubes, night deposit boxes and vaults can dramatically reduce the spread of disease.

Some branches have elected to close their lobbies to customer traffic, and limit transactions to the drive-through lane. Expanding your cleaning program to include your drive-through lane equipment and ensuring your tellers are sanitizing their hands before and after each transaction are smart steps to take.

Educating your customers on how to prevent the spread of illness is imperative. Take advantage of your ATM’s CRT screen to remind visitors to wash or sanitize their hands before and after using the machine, and to avoid usage if they’re sick. Place signage in your drive-through lanes to show your customers what steps you’re taking to protect them through hand washing or sanitization and social distancing.

It has become clear that the coronavirus is not going away anytime soon. Constantly monitoring the situation is important, as are your sources. The CDC, your local public health department and your state department of health are the best resources for the newest information. By taking the right precautions now, our industry can do its part to significantly limit the spread of COVID-19.

J&P wants to support your business in these uncertain times.
